Our wake and funeral venue is ideally situated for families across Sidcup, Chislehurst, Beckenham, Lewisham, Eltham, Greenwich and the Borough of Bexley, with easy access from nearby cemeteries, crematoria, and surrounding local areas across Kent and London. Sidcup Cemetery – approx. 10 minutes.
Kemnal Park Cemetery, Chislehurst – approx. 10 minutes.
Beckenham Crematorium & Cemetery – approx. 30 minutes.
Grove Park Cemetery, Lewisham – approx. 15 minutes.
Eltham Cemetery (Greenwich) – approx. 10 minutes.

Wakes are typically held inside Penelope’s restaurant, set within the farm’s quiet courtyard, offering a private and intimate setting with freshly prepared food options to suit the occasion. Weather permitting, our terrace and garden areas can also be made available, surrounded by lavender fields and peaceful countryside views.
What’s included in your wake booking
Our venue hire is flexible and can be tailored to your preferences. A typical wake booking includes:
- Exclusive use of Penelope’s restaurant or a designated private space
- Use of our terrace and garden (weather permitting)
- Flexible hire duration (typically 2–5 hours) can be tailor to your needs
- Background music (with the option to play your own playlist, volume dependent on licensing limits)
- Optional TV screen for photo tributes (available upon request)
- Tables, chairs, linen, and optional décor
- Access to tribute or memory table set-ups
- Assistance with décor and floral arrangements (in-house or via local partners)
- Friendly team on-site to support and serve throughout the event
- Ample on-site parking for guests
Peaceful setting, inside and out
We host wakes throughout the week, including weekends. Most bookings last between 2 and 5 hours, though we’re happy to discuss other timings as needed.
The venue comfortably caters for 15 to 400 guests. For smaller or larger gatherings, just let us know and we’ll help arrange the most suitable setup.
Depending on the weather and your preferences, our terrace and garden areas can also be made accessible during the event, offering a quiet place to step outside and reflect.
Food that brings people together
Food can play an important role in bringing people together during a wake. At Penelope’s, our in-house catering team is here to make sure guests feel well looked after with comforting and tasty food.
We offer:
- Finger buffets (e.g. sandwiches, pastries, cakes)
- Hot buffet dishes
- Afternoon tea
- Canapés
We’re happy to accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary requirements with notice.
Personal touches and support
We understand how important the little details can be. You’re welcome to bring photos, flowers, and memory items, and we’re happy to help set up a tribute table.
A TV screen can be arranged for slideshows or photo tributes (please request in advance), and we can provide background music or play your custom playlist within our licensing limits.
Our friendly team will be on hand throughout the day, and we’re here to assist with planning and setup beforehand to ensure everything runs smoothly.
